Common-sense advice about building
or buying* a better home

We are proud to announce our newest publication,
Better Houses, Better Living.

See our new website and our new book at www.betterhousesbetterliving.com

Welcome to the website that helps you get a better, user-friendly house where function and common sense are a part of the design and construction. Along with Myron Ferguson's book Build It Right!, it takes you a long way toward a home that---
    • reflects your choices (not someone else's),
    • is more comfortable,
    • needs less work,
    • has fewer irritations, and
    • is more valuable.

It's not that you can't live with unfriendly flaws---
IT'S THAT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO!

USER-FRIENDLY HOUSES will get you on your way.

*or remodelling, contracting, designing or selling.

Even if you think you know all about this kinda' stuff already, try clicking Test and see what you think after you look at our Horrid Little House.
Build It Right !
The consumer book for people building or buying a new home

Are you confident that your builder, architect or designer will do the best for you?
Good luck.

Photo Pages leads you to some of the over 1500 pictures the author has taken of the user-unfriendly things that get done in homes.

Do you like to see and feel a book before you buy it? Would a money-back guarantee help? See our Satisfaction Guarantee.
About This Site. UserFriendlyHome.com and Home User Press exist to help people get better homes. We've tried to make the site itself an example of user-friendliness. Ease of navigation is stressed along with photos and graphics to show the breadth of user-unfriendliness in homes---and what to do about it. If nothing else, you'll find it interesting because we all relate to the ways our own homes could be better.
THE PROBLEM IS NOT NEW
It was 400 years ago that Sir Francis Bacon, noting how homes were being built, observed, "Houses are to live in, not to look at. Therefore, let use be preferred before uniformity, except where both may be had."
...Nothing has changed.
Navigation note: At the bottoms of the pages you'll find "<<<Previous•" and "•Next>>>" that will take you page-by-page through the site. They follow the same order as the navigation button bars.
